Hello, I am Sarah Hastings!

I am thrilled to have joined the Your HR Lawyer team as a HR Consultant.

I’ve worked in business administration for many years across a variety of organisations, from new start-ups to established businesses, small family run firms and SMEs, and a large Government Department.  This has been invaluable in providing me with a broad scope of commercial awareness.

I’m an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and recently completed my CIPD Level 5 Certificate.

Outside of work I like to spend time relaxing with my husband, friends and family.  I love yoga and coffee, and apparently have an IDO (Instagram Dog Obsession)!

My first week at work with Your HR Lawyer…

The first day in a new job is always scary, but I was given a warm welcome and made to feel like part of the Your HR Lawyer team straight away. My desk had been fully equipped with new stationery supplies (and who doesn’t love new stationery?), and I was even given my very own initialled mug – what a lovely surprise!

After a full induction, it was time to get to know my colleagues and the perfect opportunity for this was a team meeting which included a fun quiz to break the ice and get to know each other a little better. Then, onto the serious work…

To smooth my transition from in-house HR administration to becoming an HR Consultant, I started shadowing the Head of HR Services, Jayne Dunn. Jayne’s client approach is so reassuring, I couldn’t wish for a better mentor and manager. I was also very pleased to be given the opportunity to go along and observe an employment tribunal in my first week. This provided some fantastic insight into the legal side of HR and see the litigation support that the company provides to employers. To top it off, my week ended with the brilliant news that we won at the employment tribunal!

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my first week, and I’m excited for everything the future holds in my career as an HR Consultant with Your HR Lawyer.
